Essence of Heritage
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The objective of this project was to create a grid representing aspects of oneself on any topic, and I chose to focus on my culture which is something that best captures who I am. I have attempted to convey the essence of traditional artwork that I have seen and experienced since I was a child, portraying the traditional Indian culture, using some dynamic and inventive depictions.

I started off by creating sketches when developing the topic., making sure to concentrate on using the conventional technique to produce each of the intricately detailed images that collectively represent my culture. I attempted to mimic a distinctive Indian folk-art style in the society called "Alpona" style.
SKETCHES
Once I created all the pictures in pencil, I then recreated each one in Procreate. So this is my final piece which incorporates geometric, floral, and linear themes, along with symbols or motifs that are associated with religious deities.
IDEATIONS
I aimed to make all the drawings consistent by creating patterns using white as these patterns are usually made on a smooth dark surface using white chalk powder or a rice flour solution that resembles white paint against a red brick wall. This inspired my choice of a red background, creating a juxtaposition of the peaceful white silhouette against a passionate red backdrop.
